Wicked by nature To treat and his “New Jack City” playmates are well aware of the real violence in hip hop today, and hope their take on the classic ’90s flick can scare the genre.

Treach says “New Jack” highlighted the brutality of the ’80s crack epidemic and delivered the message “it wasn’t the way to go”. He hopes today’s generation will take that lesson and apply it to the rap game.
Flex says most of the actors have known each other for several decades, so it was easy to fit in before their live performances — there’s no “take 2” at the theater — and they all credit the director. I’Caryous Johnson to prepare them months in advance.
